Who qualifies
We keep the rules simple so approvals are fast. The only hard limits are that the account must not send commercial for-profit email, and answers on your application must be truthful. Everything else is a judgement call we make quickly.
Coursework, thesis, side projects
Course-project forms, thesis-related sending, a personal learning project. A university-issued or verifiable student email helps but is not required.
Registered charities & associations
Swiss Vereine, Stiftungen, German gemeinnützige Vereine, US 501(c)(3), UK charity commission, EU equivalents. Link us to the registry entry.
Schools & universities
Course communications, event registration, student union forms, alumni outreach. A .edu / .ac / .edu.<cc> domain approves on the spot.
Unfunded maintainers
Independent maintainers of an open-source project without a commercial sponsor. Point us at the repo. We are heavy MCP users ourselves; we get it.
Independent projects with impact
Community groups, mutual-aid networks, activism campaigns, humanitarian projects, disaster response. A short paragraph describing the impact is enough.
Apply anyway.
We would rather read your application and say yes than have you skip it. If we cannot offer free Pro, we will tell you exactly why, and Free tier is a real, usable product on its own.
What you get
Approved accounts move to the Pro plan (CHF 49/month retail) at CHF 0. Same features, same limits, same priority-support queue. There is no separate "community edition" and no time-boxed trial: your account stays on free Pro as long as your project matches the category you applied under.
We review once a year, gently. If your project outgrows the criteria (raises a Series A, turns into a for-profit), we will get in touch and give you a fair path onto a paid plan or Enterprise, not a surprise invoice.
Pro plan, at no cost
How it works
Tell us who you are, what you are building, and what free Pro would unlock for you. The form is embedded on this page and takes about three minutes.
No auto-approval, no auto-reject. A human on the mailnix team reads your answers and replies from support@mailnix.ch, usually within three business days. If we need more detail before deciding, we will follow up on the same thread.
Sign up at app.mailnix.ch with the same email you used on the application. We flip your organization to Pro from our side, and the plan badge in the dashboard updates. Nothing to install, nothing to migrate.
Apply
The form below is running on mailnix Forms, the same product you would use on your own site. Your submission lands in our inbox with spam scoring, and support@mailnix.ch replies from there.
The form itself is a live mailnix Forms embed. open the hosted version if the embed does not load.
Details
01
Zero franc invoiced. No card on file. No hidden overage rail. Your dashboard shows the Pro tier with the same limits a paying customer sees.
02
Commercial for-profit sending: transactional email for a business you charge money for, marketing emails for a paid product, cold-outreach lists. If you fit this, our free plan is CHF 0/month plus per use past its quota and is designed for exactly that.
03
Manual review of the answers you give on the form, cross-referenced against public signals (registry entry, .edu domain, GitHub repo, campaign page). We do not ask for scanned ID cards or non-profit certificates as a first step.
04
Yes. The whole point of mailnix is that AI agents can wire it up in one HTTP call, and every feature of the MCP server is available on Pro. The only difference from a paid Pro account is who pays the invoice.
05
No. The application asks whether we may credit you as a mailnix community project; saying no does not affect your approval. If you say yes, we may list your project on a community showcase page (linking to you, not embedding your content).
06
Reach out to support@mailnix.ch and tell us the numbers you expect. We regularly grant sub-projects and higher limits to non-profits doing meaningful work at scale (disaster response, mutual aid, humanitarian outreach).
